This is one of such a photographs shows the Milky Way over the rock formation near to Sesriem(small namibian village on the middle of the desert)

Our total integration/exposure time for this image is about ~90 hours and we split this time up into 250 individual panels (which have been merged from over 5000 single exposures)

This image represents a mosaic of different shots taken with a longer focal length than a classic wide angle

making it well-suited for both air-to-air and ground attack missions

This band is created from the stars that cannot be individually distinguished by the naked eye. This is our Galaxy, the Milky Way. The term is a translation of the Latin via lactea, from the Greek galaktikos kklos meaning "milky circle". From Earth, the Milky Way appears as a band because its disk shaped structure is viewed from within.
