Known as either a suiban or hirokuchi, it is a low flat flower arranger in the shape of a plum blossom with four lobes. This vase was used in a tokonoma (alcove in a traditional Japanese home) to display flowers. It is made of a heavy bronze and has a thick cast design of birds (plovers and rabbits). The symbol of plovers flying over water is a Japanese symbol of
