Peanut Wood Quartz Like sands through the hourPeanut wood is a rare pet wood from the Kennedy Ranges in Western Australia. Prior to petrification this wood would have been ocean drift wood where the peanut shaped patterns were formed by a marine clam or bivalve called Teredo. Once the Teredo had made enough holes, the drift wood sank to the bottom of the ocean and the petrification process began. 120 million years later and here we are discovering it 160km inland in WA!
