The now famous painting was commissioned in 1700 by Fr. Hieronymus Langenmantel in thanksgiving for Mary's intercession in his family. It was painted by Johann Melchior Georg Schmidtner and depicts the Blessed Mother untying the knots of a wedding ribbon. (In those
