We’ve had works from this period before in the retrospectives held after Gordon’s death but they are a rare find and it is a pleasure to see one of this quality in the gallery again
She was built in Setubal in 1901 and retired from fishing in 1969
I later found out that butterflies can symbolise the soul - so maybe it’s about a love with no ending - soulmates
