The lidded top section is divided into two areas. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. This haribako has keyaki wood exteriors and sugi (cryptomeria Japanese cedar) wood drawer interiors. Great skill was used in the workmanship in this chest. It is made
