Antique Japanese Meiji Era Ceramic Blue & White Hibachi Brazier Flower motif 8” Charger Very intricately made with wovenThis is an antique Japanese ceramic hibachi likely from the Meiji era (1868 1912). In beautiful cobalt blue glaze it has flowers in bloom among calm clouds with leaves along the rim. Traditionally in Japan a hibachi is considered an enclosure for fire, usually hot coals sitting on a bed of ash used to help heat small spaces, lite a pipe or warm water for tea.
