This Great Plaid was a 9 yard length of material that was worn wrapped around the waist and belted, with the remaining fabric draped over the shoulder and gathered to the front. This way it could be used as a cloak and hood to shelter the wearer from the inclement weather. Today's fly plaid compliments the modern kilt by replacing the heavy length of fabric
