Antique Japanese Meiji Era c1880 Red Lacquer Keyaki Wood Suzuribako Calligraphy Tansu 14" Reproduction 1930's) (sewing box) with anAntique Japanese suzuribako from the early Meiji Era (c. 1880's). This portable calligraphy tansu has three drawers and a lidded top section, made of solid Sugi wood (cryptomeria). It is finished in the original red lacquer made up of over 10 coats of tinted urushi lacquer. The metal hardware is hand forged iron.
