This water content can be caused by phase separation, in which water separates from the remaining gasoline and sinks to the bottom of the tank due to its higher density. The condensate binder also prevents corrosion, rust, and sludge formation in tanks, lines, and injectors. Furthermore, it prevents bacterial growth.
