Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A War Medal (Aka Galipoli Star), C.1917 Auction Frankisket was shot down on(Harp Madalyas). Instituted in 1915. Of local Turkish manufacture in cast metal with red patination, ball finials on the tips of the star points, Turkish made, measuring 55. 5 mm (w) x 53. 2 mm (h), horizontal pinback, scattered wear in the red patination and the silvering, better than very fine. Footnote: The Gallipolli Star was a military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire. It is also known as the Ottoman War Medal. It was instituted by Sultan
