while the crown above has a Second Reich cockade with a painted black base incorporating a raised silvered ring and a red felt centre
Usually called the "Canon Cross" because it was made from captured bronze canon
with an "Attack expected"
Footnote: Grenadier Regiment 749 was established in October of 1942 and reclassified to Jäger Regiment 749 in April of 1943 in Croatia

Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six oclock arm with a reinstitution date of 1939, the reverse six oclock arm with an initial institution date of 1813, the suspension loop
